Judge, 19th Judicial District Court, Division B

🏛️ What the job does

Judges of the 19th Judicial District Court are the state trial judges for East Baton Rouge Parish. The court hears civil and criminal cases, including all felonies, and its 15 judges each preside over a lettered division. Division B is the court's at-large seat, chosen by voters across the whole parish. District judges serve six-year terms and are elected in an open primary, with a December runoff if no one wins a majority. Next election: November 2026.
