The state's chief legal officer, heading the Department of Justice. May bring or join civil cases to protect the state's rights and interests, assists district attorneys in criminal cases on request, and in limited cases may prosecute criminal matters. Appoints the assistant attorneys general. Elected statewide to a four-year term. Next election: October 2027.
